Selection for State Competition

If a district has only one team, that team will be invited to compete at the state competition. A district may also apply for a Cooperative Sponsorship wherein two schools, in order to build a program, may create one team. See the www.utad.org  web site for application and guidelines.

If there are two or more teams in a district, the top two teams will be invited to attend state. Districts with more than two teams are required to hold a regional competition that consists of all 10 events. The team scores at this competition will determine which teams progress to the state competition.

After reviewing the number of schools that will be participating from the above two guidelines, if there are still less than 35 teams, all the remaining state teams that competed in district competition will be ranked according to district scores.  Starting at the highest team scores, teams will be invited to compete at state until slots for a maximum of 35 teams are filled.

Registration Fees

All teams competing at the State level must submit the $300 registration fee.  We continue to recommend that the schools find sponsors to help supplement this registration cost. The schools can raise the $300 in any way they feel appropriate (their schools, school districts, cooperate sponsors, etc.). Registration Fees are due by February 4th, 2006 to avoid the $50 late fee.

Banquet Time

The awards banquet is on Saturday morning. A brunch will be served. This change was in request of coaches who needed to travel and return to other events after the meal. So far it has worked great. A tentative time line is contained in this manual and is also located on the www.utad.org website.
